Have you ever found yourself reaching a destination only to realize that you really don't remember anything from the last 4 miles of the drive? You missed the turn you were needing take and now you're searching for a place to turn around while your GPS is saying "Recalculating" over and over again. Life can be like this. We can find ourselves just floating along. Running kids to sports practices, going to PTA meetings, cooking meals, making sure everyone has what they need...the list could go on and on. We slide into autopilot and just go through the days...weeks...and before we know it, we're missing out on so much along the journey. My effort to be more observant, more aware, more intentional of how I move through life has brought me to this new adventure...a new path.
The goal of All For Three is to build a community of women who share their personal adventures, expertise, and just fun things along their personal journeys.
For the last year, I have been developing, discussing, and organizing ideas and thoughts for this site based on where I feel strongly called. We'll dive deeper into 'being called' at a later time but for the moment, please know that God is still guiding, nudging, and giving big 2x4's upside the head to get His people to fulfill His calling in their lives. This may look different from person to person but I'm excited to share how others have heeded the calling they felt, faced their fears, and found joy greater than they have ever known in the process.
What Does All for Three Mean?
“Three strands are stronger than one but does it matter what the strands are? ”
As I have looked back on my personal writings over the years, I have seen a pattern of three. All decisions, all dilemmas, all the days full of thanksgiving, all days full of sorrow, all seasons of growth, and all days that I have spent on auto pilot...I can always look back and see how my priorities changed my outlook, and even my health. I can see when my faith, family and myself were my top three priorities, my physical health improved. We all have three top priorities that drive us. These are everchanging and always evolving. The things you may find are your three focuses are your family, career, and self, or maybe faith, marriage, and self. We can all break down our top areas of priority to three. Your 'three' drive every decision and how you spend the minutes of your days.
Now, within these three areas of focus there are a whole lot of sub-categories. For example, myself as the focus can be as complex as the things I'm passionate about, such as foster care awareness, to figuring out my 'calling'... for twenty years, I thought knew this and now I'm not sure...to things as simple and fun as my favorite Amazon finds and the latest hairstyle trends. Ladies, we are complex and that is perfectly okay! This site is about owning my complexities, accepting that God created me with talents and gifts that can be shared, and encouraging others to do the same. We have been created for so much more than what we even realize!...or we realize it and just sit on the sidelines because we don't want to risk the judgment of stepping out of the box that we have put ourselves in...and that others may put us in.
What to Expect from All for Three
This will be a place of personal thoughts, expert advice, DIY lessons, career exploration, decorating ideas, goal setting, and everything in between. Topics will be broad. There will be fun, there will be serious and deep, and there will be laughter. The goal is to build a community where we can all come together to grow, find courage, and share all of our complexities, while individually focusing on the three areas that drive you the most.
“You are never too old to set another goal, or to dream a new dream."—C.S. Lewis
As a middle school teacher, I have challenged my students to be creative, to dream big, to go do amazing things in life. We always tell the youth of today to go chase their dreams, go after what inspires them, but yet, as adults, we often lose that positive thinking and forget the 'you can do anything' attitude when we talk to ourselves. We get stuck in the thinking that where we are right now, in all areas of our lives, is just how it's going to be. There's no changing it, there's no reason to try, and there we stay. Have you thought about taking your own advice that you give others? Have you considered doing an inventory of your life? Do your 'three' need to change, or maybe be shuffled a bit? Maybe the sub-categories within the your 'three' need to change? Have you stopped dreaming?
It's time to dream again. When I look back at my dreams, none of them involved building a online community but here I am. I invite you to join me in staying focused on the things that matter, laughing at the little things, supporting those doing amazing things, enjoying the finer things...and the cheap finds, and discovering more about yourself as God sees you.
Are you ready? Let's just see where this goes!
